A snapshot of the Medica plans
Medica FocusSM
Our newest product, Medica Focus provides an exciting opportunity for Twin Cities’ employers to offer comprehensive benefits at a more affordable price. Medica Focus is an open access plan that features premiums that are 20% lower than similar plans with broader access. Medica Focus achieves its savings through a specially designed network of providers with a proven track record of providing efficient care, plus a benefit design that promotes prevention, rewards network care, and manages drug costs and other high cost medical treatments.
Medica Choice®
Our popular open access plan favored by employers who want to offer maximum flexibility and broad access. Medica Choice products take advantage of Medica’s largest open access network, including nearly 27,000 providers and 165 hospitals in Minnesota, western Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Passport from Medica SM
Our fastest growing plan featuring national network access. Multi-state employers need an effective, convenient network solution for their employees who are located in more than one state. Offering multiple plans is a cumbersome and often expensive way to address this issue. Passport from Medica offers extensive network access throughout the region and across the nation. Members located within Medica’s service area—Minnesota, western Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota—have access to the Medica Choice network—one the region’s largest networks. Those located outside of our service area may access UnitedHealthcare’s national network—one of the nation’s largest with 535,000 providers and 4,700 hospitals.
Whether you need coverage in two states or coast-to-coast, Medica makes it seamless: One contract, one bill, one enrollment process, one ID card and consistent benefits for all employees, regardless of where they live. All employees have the same access to such value-adds as wellness and disease management programs, nurse line, and a helpful member web site.
Consumer-Directed Health Plans
Our consumer-directed plans that help employers provide an affordable, quality health plan for their employees. Our consumer-directed plans reward employees who make thoughtful, cost-conscious decisions about the care they receive through lower out-of-pocket costs. Through the use of online decision support tools, they can become better informed about their healthcare options, allowing them to become better healthcare consumers.
Health savings accounts, health reimbursement accounts, or flexible spending accounts options are available, depending upon group size. Your Medica Sales Representative will help you choose the plan right for your group.
Patient Choice Insights SM by Medica
Our innovative tiered network plan. Patient Choice Insights by Medica tiers providers, care systems and hospitals based on cost, efficiency and quality measures. Providers compete for patients based on these cost and quality measures. Providers who have a lower total cost of providing care and meet standard quality measures, have a higher value and, generally, lower copayments and coinsurance.
Medica Elect®/Medica Essential SM
A cost-effective care system model. Medica Elect and Medica Essential members select a care system and a primary care physician who coordinates their care. Members may opt to see a provider outside of the network but receive a lower benefit level. Urgent care/emergency care is open access, anywhere, anytime. Employers choose Medica Elect or Medica Essential based on the care system most appropriate for their employees. Employers realize a significant cost savings when offering these plans alone or pairing then with a Medica Choice or Passport product.
