ST. PAUL – Thirty-five business leaders from across the state were selected to participate in an exclusive program addressing the economic and public policy issues of Minnesota businesses. This is the 11th year for Leadership Minnesota, a program of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.
Leadership Minnesota, a program of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, serves to enhance the understanding of the state's economy and the role of public policy for Minnesota's business leaders.
Participants will travel the state for five, two-day sessions during which they will be exposed to a range of businesses that drive Minnesota's economy. They also will have the opportunity to talk with the state's business and political leaders and obtain an inside view on Minnesota's key industries and the policy issues that will shape the state's future.
"Leadership Minnesota offers an economic tour of our state, providing an opportunity to see and learn what drives our economy," said Phil Stalboerger, vice president, legislative and public affairs, for BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota and chair of Leadership Minnesota. "You see the distinctive challenges our Minnesota companies face – no matter their size, location, product or service."
The program kicks off Sept. 15-16 with an orientation in Red Wing and a focus on the financial services and manufacturing.
Other sessions and their focus are:
Oct. 13-14, Grand Rapids – timber, mining and energy.
Nov. 10-11, Twin Cities – health care, retail and technology.
Jan. 19-20, Austin – agriculture and food production.
March 1-2, St. Paul – role of business in public policy and politics.
The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce is the state's largest business advocacy organization, representing more than 2,300 businesses of all types and sizes on state public policy and regulatory issues.
