IMMIGRATION POLICY

Immigration is a federal issue and should be addressed only at the federal level. Doing otherwise will create a patchwork of immigration laws among states when uniformity is needed. The Minnesota Chamber opposes state immigration legislation that will place administrative or other burdens on Minnesota employers.

Minnesota faces an increasing shortage of workers as demographics shift. Businesses recognize the importance of the growing immigrant workforce to meet labor needs.

2012 Federal Priorities

We support comprehensive federal reform including secure borders. Successful federal reform will modify immigration policies without creating more obstacles for workers to connect with employers. To that end, the following actions must occur simultaneously:
