The Minnesota Business Conditions Index is based on new orders, production, inventories, employment,
delivery lead time, prices and confidence. An index above 50 indicates expansion while an index below 50 indicates contraction. The Index is calculated from surveys of purchasing managers and business leaders in Minnesota. It is used by economists and officials to forecast where the economy is headed in the next 3-6 months. The Index is part of the Mid-American Business Conditions Index, a monthly survey developed and managed by Creighton University economist Ernie Goss.
