U.S. Purchasing Managers Index: Manufacturing Composite Index

This index measures the performance of the manufacturing economy. The data is compiled by the Institute for Supply Management. More information can be found at www.ism.ws. A PMI reading above 50 percent indicates that the manufacturing economy is generally expanding while a reading below 50 percent indicates it is generally declining.
