What does it mean that the Chamber is “growing Minnesota”?

A message from Doug Loon, Minnesota Chamber President

Doug Looon

"

At the Minnesota Chamber, we’re in it for the long haul. We will continue to work tirelessly to fulfill our vision; a Minnesota that provides economic stability, opportunity for growth and innovation, and a quality of life that we all can enjoy.

"

The Minnesota Chamber represents 6,300 businesses – more than half a million employees – throughout the state. They come from every corner and industry in our vast and diverse economy. And they work each day to improve our cherished quality of life.

We walk in this journey, growing Minnesota together.

What does growing Minnesota mean?

It means letting our strong legacy of innovation drive future growth across multiple industries. It means empowering employers to attract and compete for skilled workers and to stay and grow their businesses in their communities.

It means shifting our way of thinking about how to educate and train those workers to set them up for long-term success; closing the achievement gap and preparing them for jobs of the future.

We help our members grow Minnesota by providing the business community one voice – a collective voice – at the Capitol. Our elected officials and regulators must understand how policy provides economic change and growth, or stand in the way of progress.

We help grow our state by connecting business leaders with each other, so the needs of some may fulfill the needs of others. Providing employers opportunities to stay at the forefront of business trends – helping them confront challenges head-on and solve problems.

And we provide one-on-one business services, opportunities to grow networks and knowledge base, and cultivating an economic environment where businesses stay and grow in our state.

Success doesn’t happen in a day, a week or one legislative session. But incremental progress can build a solid foundation for long-term prosperity.

At the Minnesota Chamber, we’re in it for the long-haul. We will continue to work tirelessly to fulfill our vision; a Minnesota that provides economic stability, opportunity for growth and innovation, and a quality of life that we call can enjoy.

We have the tools in place. If we lead from ahead, we will remain there. It is up to us.
