SBA Microloan Program

Loans up to $50,000 to help small businesses and certain not-for-profit childcare centers start up and expand. The average microloan is about $13,000.

Low-interest loans to repair or replace the following items damaged or destroyed in a declared disaster: real estate, personal property, machinery and equipment, and inventory and business assets.

Intermediary Relending Program
USDA

Provides 1% low-interest loans to local intermediaries that re-lend to businesses and for community development projects in rural communities.

Surety Bond Program
SBA/Authorized Agents
Surety bonds help small businesses win contracts by providing the customer with a guarantee that the work will be completed. Many public and private contracts require surety bonds, which are offered by surety companies. The SBA guarantees surety bonds for certain surety companies, which allows the companies to offer surety bonds to small businesses that might not meet the criteria for other sureties.

Automation Loan Participation Program
DEED
DEED will make companion loans intended to fill gap financing needs for businesses purchasing machinery, equipment, or software to increase productivity and automation. Loans must be made in conjunction with private financing at least equal to the amount of the DEED loan. Loans will be up to $500,000 with 1% interest on a 5 to 7-year term.

Minnesota 21st Century Fund
DEED
The Minnesota 21st Century Fund makes loans or equity investments in innovative mineral, steel, or other industry processing, production, manufacturing, or technology projects located in the taconite relief tax area. The fund may also make grants to municipalities or counties for public infrastructure to support such projects. Loans or equity investments from the fund require matching investments from facility owners. 

     
Minnesota Loan Guarantee Program

Guarantees up to $800,000 with a .25% guarantee fee on loans enrolled by approved lenders, for 10 years. 
Growth Loan Fund
DEED
Loans from $100,000 to $400,000 based on 20% of the total investment in a defined funding round, not to exceed 12 months.

Direct investments will be made in Minnesota-based seed and early-stage startups. 
     
Multi-Fund Venture Capital

Fund-level venture capital investments for MN VCs investing in MN-based seed and early-stage businesses.
Small Business Loan Participation Program
DEED
DEED will purchase 25% to 30% participation in loans made by approved CDFI and nonprofit lenders. Lenders will be responsible for setting loan terms. Participations will range from $10,000 to $250,000. Loan proceeds must be used for eligible business purposes, which may include equipment purchase, working capital and start-up costs, as well as real estate purchase, construction, renovation or tenant improvements of an eligible place of business. Loans may not be used for passive real estate.
Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program

Loans and grants to Microenterprise Development Organizations to: Provide microloans for microenterprise startups and growth through a Rural Microloan Revolving Fund provide training and technical assistance to microloan borrowers and micro entrepreneurs.

Southern Minnesota Equity Fund

Seed Fund
Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation
Supports start-up stage businesses that need capital, business expertise, and networking opportunities. Helps companies perform research and analysis, patent opinions and filings, and product testing and analysis. Investment amounts up to $25,000.
Revolving Loan Fund
Region Nine 

Region Nine administers a Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) to assist existing businesses, as well as new entrepreneurs, in securing financing they are otherwise unable to secure through traditional channels. The primary goal of the program is to create new jobs, or retain existing jobs, in the region. Preference is given to businesses that will add full-time skilled or semi-skilled positions.

The Minnesota Waste Wise Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliate of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. We provide environmental sustainability consulting to Minnesota businesses and organizations.

The Minnesota Waste Wise Foundation offers a variety of services, including, environmental sustainability consulting, on-site waste and visits, waste stream analysis and more.

Energy Smart
Minnesota Chamber of Commerce
Energy Smart helps Minnesota businesses and organizations identify cost-effective ways to lower their energy use and connects them with valuable financial incentives, such as utility rebates, grants and low-interest financing.

Energy Smart services are available at no cost to businesses or organizations in Minnesota. Energy Smart is a program of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and works closely with the Minnesota Waste Wise Foundation, a nonprofit affiliate of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.
