Hitting the road for our statewide policy tour and important updates on MPCA rulemakings

By Doug Loon
President and CEO
Minnesota Chamber of Commerce

Now that the 2026 legislative session is officially behind us, the Chamber team has been out on the road for our annual Statewide Policy Tour. As we do every year, we are traveling across the state to share key outcomes from the session and, more importantly, to listen to feedback from businesses like yours.

We want to hear directly from business leaders. These conversations are a critical opportunity for us to understand your day-to-day challenges and opportunities, share what we saw at the Capitol and start preparing for next session. What happens in St. Paul matters in communities like yours, and it matters to your business.

The issues raised during our tour stops so far continue to reinforce the importance of our core priorities: workforce growth, economic competitiveness, regulatory certainty and creating an environment where businesses can confidently invest and grow right here in Minnesota.

Navigating new MPCA rulemakings

As part of our commitment to keeping members informed and ready to adapt, we recently partnered with Chamber member Barr Engineering to host a members-only webinar. We covered two significant Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) rulemakings involving air toxics and cumulative impacts.

These proposed rules could severely affect permitting, compliance requirements, operational planning and future investment decisions here in Minnesota. While these regulations are especially relevant for manufacturers and other businesses that hold air emission permits, they have much broader implications for Minnesota's overall business climate and competitiveness. Providing timely information on complex issues like these helps the Chamber serve as a trusted resource and advocate for Minnesota employers.

If your business could be impacted by these rulemakings and you weren't able to attend the webinar, watch for additional information and resources coming from our team soon.

Stay connected

If you weren't able to join us at one of our Statewide Policy Tour stops, you will have another opportunity to catch up with us very soon. Watch for details on our upcoming end-of-session legislative webinars, where we will recap the major outcomes for this year's session and discuss exactly what they mean for Minnesota businesses moving forward.

Thanks again for your continued partnership. It is good to have you with us, and we look forward to catching up with you next week. Between now and then, have a great weekend and be sure to listen to the latest Minnesota Business Podcast.
